High Court issues contempt notices to Mamata and Abhishek over 'Shaheed Diwas' rally
A man has been arrested by Nagpur police for allegedly making a hoax bomb threat to the residence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. The threat, which was called into the city's emergency control room, prompted a massive security alert and a swift response from law enforcement officials. The accused, identified as Umesh Vishnu Raut, is now in police custody as an investigation into his motive is underway.
According to police, a call was received on the emergency number 112, warning that Gadkari's Mahal residence would be "blown up within ten minutes." In response, the bomb squad was immediately deployed, and security was intensified around the senior BJP leader's house. After a thorough search yielded no suspicious items, officials concluded that the call was a hoax. DCP S. Rushikesh Reddy confirmed the events, stating, "We immediately activated the bomb squad...However, we were unable to find anything. So, we immediately understood it was a hoax call."
Police used technical assistance to trace the call to a mobile number registered to Umesh Vishnu Raut. The accused, who reportedly works at a liquor shop and has no previous criminal history, was detained from the Beema Dawakhana area. He has been formally arrested, and officials are now interrogating him to determine the reason for the alarming and dangerous prank. Security at Gadkari's residence remains intensified as a precautionary measure.
